The CQD ® Mark VI Stinger offers
many of the same revolutionary features as the award-winning
Mark V Advanced Tactical Fighter, yet offers its own unique
size, style and concepts. It is smaller in size for ease of
handling and concealment and would be a good choice for protective
operations personnel, personal defense, or on a tactical vest.
Designed to dominate and deliver in any situation, it offers
a multitude of operational capabilities. The varied designs
of the Striker Hilt™ provide the operator with a host
of force control options. The angled Striker Hilt™ allows
prying, impact strikes, blocking and trapping techniques,
pressure point applications, and limited penetration. The
straight Striker Hilt™ allows for vertical puncturing
as well as scoring and chipping wood or other materials. High
carbon A-2 steel with a titanium carbo-nitride finish provides
ultimate sharpness as well as the durability necessary in
field applications. The Grip-Seal™ system is a combination
of machining techniques, design features, and materials that
provide the most positive grip available in a fixed blade.
Side Hilts™ may also be combined with the Spear Groove
in the end cap to secure to a stick for emergency use as a
spear or probe. The re-curved profile adds forward weight
to enhance striking/chopping action.
Modified Spear Point
– for greater strength and penetration capabilities.
Double-edged blade
– The bottom (main) edge of the knife is refined
and very sharp for general cutting while the top edge
is intentionally shaped to provide a limited cutting
capability while providing greater force/pressure
capabilities from the edge without causing unintentional
cutting. The top edge is designed to cut soft, vital
areas of the body. The bottom edge provides deeper
penetration, swift and balanced cuts and maintains
knife velocity. If needed, the knife has true bi-directional
cutting capabilities.
Re-curved Blade
– Weight-forward design helps create greater
force potential for chopping/hacking and pressing-type
cuts.
Lower blade serration (Optional
on all blades) – Provides a multitude
of utility uses and maximum cutting potential against
rope, seatbelts, etc.
Blade Flare –
protects finger in forward grip techniques and aids
in deflection of attacker’s weapons –
creates greater cutting force when using lower blade
serration
Pressure Ridge
– widened section on the rear, top portion of
knife blade that is used as pressure or hammering
surface allowing direct downward motion of the knife
blade to generate an extreme, focused cutting ability
– useful when blade is not able to make a draw-cut.
Resilient finish
– strongest and most durable finish available,
will stand up to years of aggressive training and
hard use in the field or on the street.
Non-reflective finish
– subdued finish (black or sliver) to prevent
unwanted reflection
Body Features
Expanded hilt:
Every CQD® knife has a larger-than-normal hilt
area to better protect the users hand from impact and
to improve the users control of the knife. The expanded
hilt offers increased pressure point and striking
capabilities.
Dieter Side Hilt™
- stops thumb and grip from moving forward over hilt
and onto blade – provides pressure and striking
point – enables greater control of blade for
specialized cuts – provides control to use side
of blade rather than cutting edge – serves as
a retraction support – helps protect user’s
grip from adversary’s weapon or obstructions
– assists initial access of knife – enhances
ability to control penetration depths of blade –
acts as a pressure stop (contact point) when attaching
the knife to a staff to make a spear– utilized
as a snap-over lock retention system for sheath –
utilized for pressure point and/or striking device.
Striker Hilt™
– This revolutionary feature is available on
the MK-VI Stinger. The Striker Hilt™ multiplies
the force control options available to the user. Provides
greater control of the knife blade for specialized
techniques – ensures blade does not over-penetrate
into target– enables a wide variety of limited
penetration and impact striking techniques –
assists centerline grip control – used for hooking
and trapping weapons and body appendages – provides
lashing points for spear – utility use as a
prying mechanism for opening hasps, crates, packing
straps, etc., and as a puncturing device for cans,
tubing and inflatable objects – protects grip
from an adversary’s attack – prongs provide
fingerlike ability to grasp objects that might ordinarily
be grabbed by the hands, while allowing the operator
to maintain a firm grip on the knife – the unique
angle of the prong and point allows the operator to
dig, chip, scrape, set holes, mark, etch, etc. while
saving the knife tip from damage.
Finger Guard –
allows knife to be utilized with a “center-point
grip”, which brings hand directly over center
balance of blade – direct alignment of wrist
and forearm ensures less chance of wrist injury –
protects median nerve – increases in-line penetration
capabilities – greater control when using blade
flaring techniques – improves retention grip
– greater reflexive transformations in combat
situations
Handle Finger Grooves
– provide positive grip identification of primary
cutting edge of knife
Expanded hilt:
Every CQD® knife has a larger-than-normal hilt
area to better protect to users hand from impact and
to improve the users control of the knife. The expanded
hilt offers increased pressure point and striking
capabilities.
Grip Seal™ System
– The combination of pommel-stop, 4-way expansive
hilt, hilt traction ribs, knurled grips, finger grooves
and “wing-walk” surfaces provide a sure
and safe grip under any conditions and improve performance
Lanyard Hole –
used for attaching knife to operator’s belt,
equipment or improvised spear
Sheath System –
Standard sheath is preformed, ridged, waterproof Prylon®
and secures to equipment/belt with a Tec-lok®
fastener. All CQD® knife sheaths can be secured
to belts/equipment in a variety of ways or angles.
Mark VI sheaths come with multiple eyelets and slots
cut around the perimeter of the sheath to allow a
variety of straps or plastic tie-ties to affix the
sheath. Knives can be carried upside down with no
fear of loss. In addition to the standard sheath,
two form-molded Kydex® concealed-carry sheaths
(inside pants/belt, inside jacket) are available for
the Stinger and offer operators additional knife carry
options.
Spear Groove –
When used in conjunction with side hilt aligns knife
with the staff and creates stable mounting surface
for staff attachment using shoelaces, riggers tape,
twine, rope, etc.
Pommel –
Utilized for hammering, striking and pressure point
control techniques
Pommel Stop (grip)
– Helps prevent users hand from going over knife
and onto striking surface when using pommel –
aids in knife retraction to ensure operator’s
hand does not slip
Blade Steel: A-2 with a Rockwell
hardness of 56-57
Blade Thickness: .175 inch
Blade Length: 4.5 inches
Overall Length: 9.35 inches

Included Sheath
The Mark VI sheath is designed for ambidextrous
stowage and carry of the Mark VI Stinger. Sheath is made of impact
resistant Prylon® for secure fit with minimum size. When properly
seated, the sheath itself locks the knife in place. A rubber O-ring,
which is resistant to temperature and salt water, can be looped
over the pommel for additional security. The sheath may be mounted
on the left or right side by shifting the belt apparatus. The Tec-Loc®
is reversible and may be adjusted to fit different sized belts/straps
on load bearing gear. The sheath body features multiple eyelets
and slots for use with straps or tie-ties to secure the sheath in
different positions. The back plate is slightly offset from the
sheath to allow the operator room to grasp the handle for deploying
or securing the knife. A optional nylon pouch may be attached to
the Mark VI sheath to provide convenient storage space for additional
knives, handheld flashlight, multi- tools, etc.
